In what could be a disappointment for those hoping for upgrades like a 1-inch sensor, the Action 5 Pro’s key specs appear to be identical to the Action 4. These include a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, f/2.8 aperture and 155-degree field of view.

I’m in the market for an action camera, and want to avoid the GoPro lineup whose development has mostly stagnated in recent times. I already have the Insta360 X3, so the Insta360 Ace Pro seems like a natural buy for me as it would be in the same ecosystem and use the same apps, the DJI Osmo Action 4 is a solid product that has been getting rave reviews from the everyone. If the release is happening soon, I might just wait for the Action 5 Pro instead.

Sebastiaan de With & Ben Sandofsky, makers of the insanely good camera apps for iPhone — Halide & Spectre, have just published their deep-dive and Technical Readout of the LIDAR sensor and the read cameras on the new 2020 iPad Pros.

A fantastic look at the new LIDAR sensor, its capabilities, and (current) possibilities. I sure hope Apple has some big plans for it in the near future, and doesn’t just intend to use it for their AR push.

Don’t miss the QnA at the end.

I was delighted to hear his name the Academy Awards Ceremony. I think it was a long time coming.

Over on SharpShutter.co, I reviewed the Sigma 24mm f1.4 ART series lens.

The Sigma 24mm f1.4 lens has arguably the best quality result compared to other 24mm options. Photos come out short and detailed. The lens is incredible sharp in the center, and does surprisingly well at the corners too.

The Sigma 24mm f1.4 also produces some of the most delicious Bokeh I’ve seen.

Overall, the Sigma 24mm f1.4 is a fantastically built lens with great results. I’d highly recommend it.
