iPhone 5 Likely to be Launched on Oct 26 in India
BGR.in’s Rajat Agrawal, who first broke news that the iPhone 5 will be exclusively sold by Apple in India this year is now reporting that the launch is likely to happen on October 26th, 2012.
He adds:
We expect the iPhone 5 to have a wider availability unlike the past where it was not available readily everywhere.
We also hear that the iPhone 5 would be priced closer to the launch price of the iPhone 4S, which recently got a price drop. However, at this point of time we are not sure about the number of units available initially considering Apple is facing supply constraints globally.
This falls in line with what I’d been hearing, that the carriers (Vodafone at least) would be ready with their nano-SIMs by October 20th.
NBC Delays Premiere of Community Indefinitely
NBC has released a statement, which says:
“Without having to launch these comedies on Friday at this time, we can keep our promotion focused on earlier in the week — plus we will have both comedies in our back pocket if we need to make any schedule changes on those nights. When we have a better idea of viewing patterns in the next few weeks, we will announce new season premieres of ‘Whitney’ and ‘Community.’ ”
Translation: We’re already making a lot of money from the dice we rolled a few weeks ago and don’t want to break that streak, so we’ll play these cards when we start fucking up.
Good god, NBC. Stop toying with that show so much.
Today marks a year since Steve Jobs passed away. If you visit Apple’s Website today, there’s a beautiful and touching video that plays and takes over where you’d usually see the homepage.
The video is simple and easily manages to tug at your heartstrings. It has lines spoken by Steve from some of his most memorable moments as a soft music track plays in the background. The video then fades away to a written message from Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. It’s a magnificent tribute to the man who effectively built Apple to what it is today.
We miss you, Steve.
Apple Lowers Prices of iPhone 4 & iPhone 4S in India
The prices have been slashed further. See Update at the bottom of the post.
Gearing up for the launch of the iPhone 5 in India, Apple has lowered the prices of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S in the market, reports BGR.
The iPhone 4, which was retailing for Rs. 37,900 has seen a huge price cut and is now available for Rs. 28,300. While this price now puts it in the sub-30k range, it still lacks many of the better features that exist in the other phones in the same price range. It has slim chances against Samsung’s Galaxy S3, probably the most popular phone in the Indian market, which is available at Rs. 34,900 or lower. The iPhone 4S on the other hand only sees a marginal cut, dropping from Rs. 44,500 to Rs. 41,500.
If these prices are any indication, I expect the price of the iPhone 5 to be no less than Rs. 45,000 and I’m assuming it’ll be close to Rs. 48,000.
Update: Apple has slashed the prices of iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S in India even further. The new prices are Rs. 26,500 for the iPhone 4 and Rs 38,500 for the iPhone 4S (8GB and 16GB models respectively).

Apple Apologizes For iOS 6 Maps
Apple’s CEO Tim Cook in a letter published on Apple.com
At Apple, we strive to make world-class products that deliver the best experience possible to our customers. With the launch of our new Maps last week, we fell short on this commitment. We are extremely sorry for the frustration this has caused our customers and we are doing everything we can to make Maps better.
Not only does Tim apologize, but he also goes on to suggest alternatives that one can download.
While we’re improving Maps, you can try alternatives by downloading map apps from the App Store like Bing, MapQuest and Waze, or use Google or Nokia maps by going to their websites and creating an icon on your home screen to their web app.
Their first step towards improving Apple Maps, and a huge one at that, is admitting that they did not deliver.
Poster — The Ingenious WordPress App for iOS
For months, I’d been looking for a WordPress app for iOS that I could use to publish on my sites. None of the apps available on the App Store, not even the official WordPress app, have support for Custom Fields.
But then I stumbled across Poster. Poster is a feature-packed WordPress app for iOS that runs both on your iPhone and iPad. It features a minimally elegant UI that stays out of the way and lets you focus on your content. It has almost all the options you’d need to publish remotely and it has managed to make my workflow infinitely better.
If you use your iOS device to publish to your WordPress Blog, Poster is just $3.99 on the App Store.
