hike messenger for iOS Now Available Globally

hike messenger, the “Droolworthy” Instant Messenger app that is a better, more beautiful replacement for WhatsApp with SMS integration as its USP, is now available globally for iOS devices.

The app, which launched late in October, was only available on the Indian App Store. The company has now made it available across all the App Stores and you can download it for free.

Update: Update, in a blog post, the company says that they’ve had to pull the apps from the App Store due to a 700% traffic spike to the service as a result of which their servers could not handle all the burden. I’ll update this post when the app is back on the App Store.

16GB Nexus 7 Now Available in India

Croma, one of India’s leading electronic superstores, has now listed the 16GB Nexus 7 for sale in India at Rs. 19,981. The Mobile Indian reports that the tablet will go on sale tomorrow, November 8th, 2012 in other Large Format Retailers as well, starting at Rs. 20,000.

The tablet, which is manufactured by Asus but sold by Google in some markets, comes with a 7″ 1280px by 800px display, Quad-Core Tegra 3 1.3GHz processor and comes with stock Jelly Bean (Android 4.1), offering the same pristine experience that Google pushes via its Nexus devices.

I purchased the 8GB model a few months ago and it made for a perfect reading device.

Bingo Machine [Sponsor]

My thanks to Bingo Machine for being the first sponsor on Nuclear Bits.

Bingo Machine is a nifty app for your iOS device that replaces the person calling out the numbers in a game. The app wonderfully automates the process of randomly picking numbers, calling them out and displaying them on screen via a beautifully designed UI. The app lets you manually control when to call out numbers or you can automate this process at specific intervals. Bingo Machine will show you all the numbers that have been called out and the ones that remain on a neat grid. Missed a number? It’ll recap through the recent numbers as well.

It works quite well and I’ve already used it on two different occasions to some great feedback. There is built-in support for AirPlay or TV Out so you can display the numbers on a giant screen at a party or function. It’s available on the App Store for just $0.99.

Fascinating how the planes look like they’re hung by strings.

3 Days. 3 Million iPads.

Apple® today announced it has sold three million iPads in just three days since the launch of its new iPad® mini and fourth generation iPad—double the previous first weekend milestone of 1.5 million Wi-Fi only models sold for the third generation iPad in March. The Wi-Fi + Cellular versions of both iPad mini and fourth generation iPad will ship in a few weeks in the US and in many more countries later this year.

Impressive.
