iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus Arrive in 36 More Countries and Territories This Month

Apple today announced that the iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus would be arriving in 36 more countries and territories this month. This is the fastest ever rollout by Apple for iPhone and it begins with two of the largest mobile markets in the world.

  • Friday, October 17: China, India and Monaco
  • Thursday, October 23: Israel
  • Friday, October 24: Czech Republic, French West Indies, Greenland, Malta, Poland, Reunion Island and South Africa
  • Thursday, October 30: Bahrain and Kuwait
  • Friday, October 31: Albania, Bosnia, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Guam, Hungary, Iceland, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Macau, Macedonia, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, South Korea, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine and Thailand

The iPhone is set to be released here in India at midnight on October 17th and the stores (Apple Premium Resellers) have already taken over 100 pre-orders each. I opted for a Space Gray, 64GB iPhone 6 this year that will replace by Silver 16GB iPhone 5 and I’m hoping to pick it up at midnight, right after the Apple Event scheduled on Oct. 16th.

Apple slashes iPhone prices in India

Rajat Agrawal & Sambit Satpathy for BGR India:

The 16GB and 32GB iPhone 5S variants now have a MRP of Rs 44,500 and Rs 49,500 respectively. The 8GB iPhone 5C, on the other hand, sees its price drop to Rs 31,500.

Interesting move. The iPhone 5s Gold has been selling for around 35-36k on Amazon & Flipkart over the last few days, so I wonder what effect this price cut has on those prices.

With the imminent launch of iPhone 6 in India next month (likely October 17th), I’m hoping it is priced just below the 50k mark.

Just Mobile AluCable Flat

The Just Mobile AluCable Flat is a very interesting looking Lightning Cable for your iPhone or iPad. Just Mobile makes great aluminum products and I’ve used their Xtand Pro and Xtand in the past.

The AluCable Flat is a 4-feet USB-to-Lightning cable that’s flat like Thai noodles. The ends have aluminum connectors for the USB and Lightning ports and the cable is Apple-certified.

I really wish Apple improves the quality of their Lightning cables.

Apple Lowers Prices of iPhone 4 & iPhone 4S in India

The prices have been slashed further. See Update at the bottom of the post.

Gearing up for the launch of the iPhone 5 in India, Apple has lowered the prices of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S in the market, reports BGR.

The iPhone 4, which was retailing for Rs. 37,900 has seen a huge price cut and is now available for Rs. 28,300. While this price now puts it in the sub-30k range, it still lacks many of the better features that exist in the other phones in the same price range. It has slim chances against Samsung’s Galaxy S3, probably the most popular phone in the Indian market, which is available at Rs. 34,900 or lower. The iPhone 4S on the other hand only sees a marginal cut, dropping from Rs. 44,500 to Rs. 41,500.

If these prices are any indication, I expect the price of the iPhone 5 to be no less than Rs. 45,000 and I’m assuming it’ll be close to Rs. 48,000.

Update: Apple has slashed the prices of iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S in India even further. The new prices are Rs. 26,500 for the iPhone 4 and Rs 38,500 for the iPhone 4S (8GB and 16GB models respectively).

Beautiful Shots of the White iPhone 5

Watching Apple’s iPhone 5 keynote and then the products shots from the press release, I had pretty much made up my mind that I would be opting for the black model whenever I get my hands on one, either having it shipped from the US when Apple starts offering the unlocked version or purchasing it directly in India, my first official iPhone purchase.

The black model of the iPhone 5 has a very sexy, stealthy black look due to the anodized aluminum it uses for the back and on the antennas. However, in the last 3 days, I have come across numerous notes and tweets saying that it very easily gets scratched. Now, I know that the report has been blown out of proportion in the press already. That’s not my concern. I have never used a case on my devices — I like them “naked”. So even if the problem isn’t as bad, it still was worrying for me. Yet, I was sure to go for the black model.

Until I saw these photos. Now I may just change my mind.
